TANK AUTOMATION SOFTWARE

OMA PS Tank Automation Software OmaTank® is a fully on-line integrated system with other OMA PS software solutions like OmaPump® and OmaPetr®®. This software is compatible with most of the existing tank automation systems and thanks to this property, the users can benefit from using the same software solution even if they have different units. The solution receives data from tank automation systems and performs operations such as reporting tank inventories, alarms, fuel transfers, tank leak tests and on-line inventories. Because the tank control units have a limited capacity to store data, this solution helps to store all the transactions formed through the years. Another advantage of the OmaTank® is the capabilitiy of performing automatic tank calibration. In many cases, after the installation of the tank controller a tank calibration process is required. This normally is an operation that needs approximately 8 hours for each tank, stopping the sales and requiring a rented tanker truck to fill and dump liquid. TankOmat® performs the calibration automatically during the sales. Besides performing more accurate calibration, TankOmat® saves time and cost to the station owner.

TANK CONTROL UNIT

Inventories, fuel temperatures, fuel and water levels of each tank can be monitored individually from the coloured LCD display of the unit. Easy to use, access to all information with 4 buttons. Having the availability to add various options, (Automatic Filling Detection, Tank Leak Detection Test etc...) the system supports monitoring up to 16 tanks. Systems warns the user by the alarm system in conditions such as low fuel level , high water level, high level of fuel in the tanks. Optionally in alarm situations activating/deactivating the external devices is performed by the system. (For example: when the tank fuel level is decreased to a very low level or the water level in the tank increases up to a pre-defined limit, the system will stop the submersible-pump by shutting down the submersible-pump contactor. System will re-activate the submersible-pump as soon as the alarm situation is cleared, such as refueling of tank or suction of the water from the tank)

PROBES

The probes are manufactured according to OIML (International Organisation of Legal Metrology) standards, made of stainless steel, and are accepted as CLASS 1 status. Because there is no chemical reaction probability with the product or fuel inside the tank, the probes do not lose their chemical and physical properties. The units detect the fuel and water level seperately. The fuel temperature is calculated by receiving the values from five different points on the probe. The magnetostrictive probes measure product level changes to a resolution of 0.012 mm, product temperature changes to a resolution of 0.0005° C and water level changes to a resolution of 0.2 mm.

FLOATS

Floats keep their properties for a long period of time on the probes inside the fuel.Reverse magnetic fielded floats prevent the probes from sludge formings. This will prevent blocking of float from sludge formation.Floats perform measurement by making use of differencies in water and fuel densities

AUTOMATIC TRANSFER MODULE

Automatically detects the transfer of fuel from the tanker to tank and automatically generates transfer reports as the operation is completed. Therefore the user has the chance to compare the invoice and actual amount filled. Furthermore all the fillings are registred and stored by the system.

ACR-AUTOMATIC CALIBRATION AND RECONCILIATION

This capability enables the users to perform a very accurate calibration process starting from 90% fuel levels and up until the tank is emptied to last 10% without stopping sales. The process is realized on station automation software. The system will then track changes in the tanks and will evaluate them to form a correction (tank strapping table) table automatically.

ALD – AUTOMATIC LEAK DETECTION

This capability enables the user to perform detection of leaks of higher than 0,37 liters/hour in single walled tanks. During the 1 hour leak test, the sales from that tank are stopped and the system goes to a very sensitive mode. At the end of the test the leaking amount (if there is any) is reported in detail to the user and recorded on the unit. This way older leak reports can be stored and re-evaluated in the future. The leak test can be performed continuously, periodically and on optional basis, depending on the user preference.

ALARM MODULE

For some special situations of the tank visual and sound warnings can be generated by the system. Since all these warnings are parametric, all desired levels can be programmed individually as alarm criteria. System alarms are listed below:

Low fuel level

Low low fuel level

High fuel level

High high fuel level

High water level

High High water level

Inaccurate temperature

High sensor value

Low sensor value

Probe failure

Processor failure

Printer failure

OUTPUT MODULE

Whenever an alarm situation is detected, the output module enables the capability to turn off/on the external devices. With this capability, besides having sound and visual alarms, external devices can be taken under control. The most usual method of this is as follows; when the tank fuel level is decreased to a very low level or the water level in the tank increases up to a pre-defined limit, the system will stop the submersible-pump by shutting down the submersible-pump contactor. System will re-activate the submersible-pump as soon as the alarm situation is cleared, such as refueling of tank or suction of the water from the tank. Another example can be expressed as installing an external alarm to the fueling limit of the tank, which will be active in high level of fueling, to prevent high level spills and spilt fuel danger.
