Solutions With a Difference
The
FuelOmat vehicle
identification system is deployed in millions of vehicles, supported in over 10
thousands petrol stations all over the world and has more than 15 years of proven
success. Recently, OMA PS released a new FuelOmat generation which implements wireless communication between
the station components.
FuelOmat enables refueling in petrol stations without cash, credit
cards or vouchers. A Vehicle Identification Unit (VIU) is installed next to the
vehicle fuel inlet and is used as the authorization and payment device. An additional
unit, the DataPass, can be used for extracting odometer and other data from the
vehicle bus. A VIU reader is installed on the fueling nozzles at the stations and
reads the VIU using secured, short range, contactless technology. It does this only
when the nozzle is inserted into the vehicle fuel inlet.
The system
ensures that the fuel goes only to the vehicle/fleet of the account to be charged.
Any attempt to remove the nozzle and refuel another vehicle will immediately suspend
the process. It is also possible to collect odometer and engine hour data from the vehicle for consumption and maintenance reports
and also to prevent unauthorized fuel transfer from the vehicle fuel tank.
The same system can also track attendant activity: every attendant uses a contactless Authorizer tag to activate the dispenser for non-VIU refueling. At the end of the shift, the station manager gets a shift report with the cash and transactions slips that need to be collected from every attendant. The system can also report each attendant’s productivity index.
A complementary FuelOmat component is the centralized Head Office server which generates reports, including exception reports. Fleet managers can prevent unnecessary expenses by remotely logging-in to the system and setting limits and restrictions for every vehicle. These include:
This added value service for fleets
is offered today by many global and regional oil companies.
The New FuelOmat
OMA PS has recently released its new
FuelOmat Gold system which can be deployed within just a few hours at each
station and within minutes in each vehicle.
OMA PS was one of the first companies
to deploy a wireless network on the forecourt. Based on this experience, OMA PS
has developed the new wireless solution which uses several redundancy mechanisms
to overcome blocking of wireless communication on the forecourt.
This new wireless solution enables faster FuelOmat deployment at service stations while reducing installation and support costs. FuelOmat Gold simplifies the vehicle installation by installing the FuelOpass ring around the fuel inlet and connecting the DataPass to the vehicle bus for odometer and other fleet data.
The spectrum of vehicle devices starts
from FuelOpass - an affordable, passive VIU – and extends to the DataPass
and µDataPass,
which connect to the vehicle bus and collect critical data. µDataPass is shaped as an OBDII plug and connects
directly to the OBDII connector in the vehicle, thus eliminating the need in complex
installation.
